60+ and Gentle Yoga Classes

Older students find Iyengar yoga helps them maintain flexibility and stamina.

Gentle Yoga class Mondays and Wednesdays : 12.00 – 1.30 pm

This class offers those with minor physical ailments, pain and age-related challenges, the opportunity to continue with their yoga practice. Students must have at least 1 year’s recent regular attendance/practice of Iyengar yoga. Places are limited so this class is presently only open to students with  health issues, on consultation with the teacher. 

60+ class Friday: 11.45am – 1.15pm
with Joyce Furrer.

Our yoga for older student classes are drop-in and cost £7.50 for members or £10.00 for non-members. Members may buy an 11-class Yoga Card for £75.00

“I started yoga for old student classes in answer to that common complaint, lower back pain,” says Adrian Edwards, a regular student in our classes for people over sixty. “Forward bend stretches and dog pose soon cured me of the pain.”

That didn’t stop him attending, needless to say.

“All instructors constantly challenge us to go that extra mile. They will be there with something new to teach us in each lesson, even in those regular poses with which we might feel so familiar,” Adrian explains. “There’s never a hint of the routine. There’s no better feeling than the one of elation on leaving the class, the head clear, save for wondering what we are going to have for lunch!”
