Yoga Classes

Yoga Classes

Yoga For All

Regular Yoga classes are suitable for all students over the age of seventeen.

They’re graded according to experience from beginners to more advanced levels.

Classes are drop-in, so there’s no need to book, but we recommend arriving 10 or 15 minutes before they start, especially in the evening and at weekends.

No two classes are the same. All of our yoga teachers at IYMV teach Iyengar yoga, but each teacher does it slightly differently and they tailor their instructions to students’ capabilities.

We also offer specialised Yoga classes for new students, older practitioners, children, pregnant women and those recovering from injury .

As B.K.S. Iyengar says, “the great advantage of yoga is that it can be practised by anyone, irrespective of age, sex and physical condition”.

Medical Information

Regular Yoga classes are not suitable for students with certain medical conditions. Please inform IYMV and your teacher before starting classes if you have any of the following:

High blood pressure
Heart disease or any heart problem
Epilepsy including Petit Mal
Cancer or benign tumours
Ménière’s disease
Detached retina
MS (multiple sclerosis)
ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis)
If you have recently had an operation
If you are pregnant or are undergoing IVF treatment

Having any of these conditions does not mean that you cannot practise yoga or that it will not be able to help you. We have a special remedial yoga class where experienced teachers give individual tuition to help certain conditions.

If you are in any doubt or have any concerns about your ability to do yoga, please contact the office.
